Do Eyelashes Grow Back

Do eyelashes grow back?

Long, thick, healthy eyelashes reflect not only your outer health but also your inner well-being. Men and women love having those amazing thick lashes seen in advertisements and movie stars.

You may have lost your eyelash volume due to illness or from the effects of damaging makeup products. You may be genetically predisposed to a thing or almost non-existent appearing eyelashes.

No matter what your situation is, losing your eyelashes affects your natural beauty and affects your self-confidence. Fake lashes are an option, but that is precisely what they are: fake.

Many people have, on several occasions, tried one product after another product to improve their lashes with no luck or any positive outcome whatsoever. The vacant promise of pills, creams, and other methods may work for some, but not others.

Eyelash 101

Not just for flirting, eyelashes serve a purpose. They are necessary to protect your precious eyes from dust, foreign objects, and particles. Everyone is different and has a unique concentration of eyelashes. Some ethnicities are blessed with thick dark lashes, while others get a sparse amount of blonde, almost invisible lashes.

How long do I have to wait for them to grow?

Eyelashes falling off is normal and not a cause for panic. Just like skin shedding or hair falling out, it happens from time to time. Applying false lashes and eyelash curlers, heavy mascara, wiping your eyes, and regular makeup removal are all factors that can affect this process.

Just like your hair, eyelashes regrow. They will come back a little softer initially, then harden as they get longer.

Some find that by trimming them, growth may be encouraged and accelerated. Again, this may work for some, but not all.

For the average person, eyelash regrowth takes an average of 1 to 6 months. Remember, everyone is different. However, by treating your eyelashes with special emollients and improving your overall health, you can increase the speed at which you see new eyelash growth. Results will always vary depending on the treatment you have selected, its effect on you, your regime and commitment to it, and y,aand health and well-being.

Prevention is the first step.

Take care of your body and what you put into it, and you will most definitely have healthy eyelashes and better overall health.

The first thing you need to assess is what you are eating. Are they rich in Vitamins C and E? These vitamins support the healthy growth of hair and can be found in some foods and herbal supplements. Choose your supplements carefully. Be sure they promote hair and nail growth and do not conflict with any other medications or supplements you may already be taking.

A few foods that will boost the health of your eyes and eyelashes are:

  • Apples
  • Guavas
  • Most fruits
  • Green vegetables.
  • Eggs
  • Meat
  • Fish
  • Other sources of proteins.

You will see no growth or improvement in your eyelashes if you use harsh eye products. Waterproof mascara has a devastating effect on your eyelashes. It will dry them out and make them highly brittle. Yes, Mascara has a spectacular impact on anyone’s face, but if you used it, I would use an easy-to-remove, gentle mascara. It may not have the same impact, but in the long run, your lashes will be healthier and require less to have the same effect.

You will always need to take excellent care of your eyelashes if you want them not to fall out:

Throw out old makeup (eye makeup especially) every 4 to 6 months

  1. Be gentle with your eyelashes – don’t rub them
  2. Use recommended eyelash enhancement products
  3. Use a gentle makeup remover pad or low acidity cleanser to remove all makeup, never a harsh soap
  4. Whenever possible, go without makeup and let your skin and eyelashes breathe. Makeup covers and masks your skin.
  5. Never sleep in your makeup!

Repair and replenish

One way to revitalize your natural eyelashes in a short period of time is to consider using a recommended eyelash treatment product. Most treatments are recommended to be applied at night.

There are many treatments available, and it is recommended that you do extensive research to determine what will work best for you based on your skin type and desired results. If you want any of the products to work, you must remove all eye makeup before applying them.

Always follow the recommended application procedures and heed the warning. Anything close to your eyes should always be managed with extreme caution. You may require a prescription solution to stimulate growth if the damage is severe.

Maintenance – for life.

Like your hair and skin, your eyelashes must be conditioned and treated with love and care. Some of the natural methods that are readily available in stores are emu oil and olive oil. Because these treatments are oils, it is recommended that you do not go out after you have applied them, as they will attract dust and particles. Take a day in, relax, and have a me’ day.

Once you start a treatment, you will need to continue with it to ensure its effectiveness. You will see results in a few days. It will take dedication and commitment to see the results you seek. Set aside time each week to apply the treatment that will work best for you.

If after a month or so, you are not seeing the expected results you were hoping for, try a different oil or treatment combination and see if that works better for you. As mentioned, everyone is unique.

Another treatment is Vaseline (petroleum jelly). This will also remove any residual makeup from your eye area and naturally thicken your lashes.

The oils and treatments can be applied with a Q-Tip or supplied applicator. This can be done monthly or at a time when you know you can relax and let it do its job.

Factors that may affect the health of your eyelashes:

  • Stress
  • Environment (chemicals, like chlorine, eyelash glue)
  • Damaging makeup products
  • Extreme heat
  • Vitamin deficiencies
  • Dehydration

Can I get my eyelashes back?

Oils for hair treatments, such as olive oil, castor oil, and coconut oil, can also be used on your eyelashes to protect them and coat them in a layer of moisture that prevents them from further damage. They also help give the lashes extra nutrients to grow thick and long.

Vitamin E oil has also proven to be quite effective. Apply with a clean mascara brush or Q-Tip.

Did you know olive oil is an excellent eye makeup remover? So, get into the habit of using olive oil to remove your makeup, and you will be treating your eyelashes without any effort!

In the morning, gently wipe your eyes with warm water and be ready for your day.

If the treatments are not satisfying, you may have an underlying medical condition preventing you from new eyelash growth. It is best to consult your doctor to see if professional treatments can help you.

Make your treatment

You can easily prepare your treatment at home by blending equal castor and coconut oil.

If you need a more aggressive treatment or the damage is quite extreme, add a small amount of avocado oil to the mixture. Blend all ingredients in a small container with a lid, shake well, and then apply using an eyelash brush or a Q-Tip. This mixture can be applied to not only eyelashes but also eyebrows.

Do you have your eyelash care kit ready?

  • Small plastic container with a tight-fitting seal-able lid
  • Eyelash brush (clean)
  • Cotton Balls and Q-Tips
  • Olive Oil, Castor Oil, Coconut Oil, Vaseline, Avocado Oil, Aloe Vera (any or all)
  • Alternately, you can place dried lemon peel into the oil (and leave for a few weeks) and use that solution
  • Eye makeup remover
  • Time to relax and let the treatment work!

Brush your eyelashes regularly, and gently massage the areas around your eyes to stimulate circulation. As much attention you give your hair and its caring, give it to your eyelashes.

It’s all about you.

Your beauty regime needs to be consistent and meet your unique needs. Go with the products that are available to you and that your body will accept (no allergies). Always do a skin test to ensure you will not have any adverse reaction to treatments, mainly when applied near your eyes!

Your health starts from inside your body. It is up to you to ensure you are getting the vitamins and minerals you need, staying hydrated, and taking the steps you know you need to take to be the most beautiful you.

That’s an excellent tip!

Take a photo of your eyelashes when you start your treatment, then take regular images to check your progress and track your results. This will help you determine which treatment works best for you and your unique physiology.
